Re-connecting with Mother Nature Yoga Retreat Sacred Valley, Peru

The Sacred Valley, Peru provided a truly powerful backdrop for our Spring 2025 yoga retreat. Nestled high in the Andes Mountains, every site we visited pulsed with sacred energy. An ancient resonance you can feel in your bones.

As always, we strayed from the typical tourist paths. We were guided instead by members of the local tribes who generously shared their history and traditions. Their stories were profoundly humbling, a living testament to endurance, reverence, and connection to the land.

Our days were filled with yoga, breathwork, and hikes at elevations above 2,300 meters. We had some initial concerns about altitude sickness, a combination of nourishing food and specialized breathing techniques helped us adapt with minimal discomfort. After a few days of acclimatization, we were hiking to altitudes nearing 3,000 meters, uncovering more of the valley’s hidden wonders each day.

Kumbi led us through numerous legendary sacred sites, places where the ingenuity and spirit of ancient civilisations leave you breathless. Much of what we saw remains only partially understood by modern scholars. The magnitude of these achievements would challenge even today’s best engineers.

Pachamama ceremony

The highlight of our retreat was, without question, our closing circle Pachamama Ceremony. A three-hour ritual in gratitude to Mother Earth. We hired local tribespeople to lead us with deep reverence, embodying a wisdom and appreciation for nature that modern society too often forgets. Our ceremony was conducted during the golden hour as the sun dipped behind the mountains. The ceremony took place in the garden of our retreat villa, beside a pond and beneath a cleansing waterfall.

We cleansed in pure mountain water before entering our yoga shala for a heart-opening practice, enriched by Shamanic rhythms and soundscapes. Through kriya, chanting and shared laughter, we set our intentions and opened our hearts. The evening concluded in a circle around a ceremonial fire, where we journeyed together through the vibration of drumming, shakers, didgeridoo, handpan, flute, dance, song and chant. We left the circle transformed, almost in a trance, light, wild and in awe.
